The Melbourne School of Bookbinding offers tuition in all aspects of Bookbinding.
In addition to learning how to bind different styles of book, you will also be instructed in the use of the bindery equipment and hand-tools at the studio.
Tuition is divided into Courses and Workshops.
See below for details on each.
COURSES
Courses are run in 4 week blocks.
Each block consists of 4 x 3 hour classes.
Foundation courses for new students run on:
Wednesdays : 10am-1pm or
Saturdays : 2pm - 5pm.
Once you have completed your Foundation block, you can attend one of the following times for ongoing students:
Fridays : 2pm-5pm or
Saturdays : 10am-1pm
In the Foundation block, students make 3 different books, and all materials are included.
Subsequent blocks run for as long as you want to continue learning. Materials can be bought from the MSB as required, or you can source your own.
Please note that 24 hours' notice is required for lesson cancellation. Failure to provide adequate notice will result in forfeiture of the fees for that lesson.
WORKSHOPS
Workshops are run throughout the year. They are either a full or half day long.
They concentrate on a particular binding style, structure, or technique.
Sign up below to be notified as upcoming workshops are announced.
Places are limited and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. If interest demands it, repeats of a workshop will be run.
Workshops require a deposit to secure a place, the balance to paid on the day of the workshop.
Full day workshops will have a 1 hour break for lunch ( not supplied ).
